Founded in 2016 by Jack Boyd, Long Island Academics serves Nassau and Suffolk counties with locations in Babylon and Southold.
Jack has extensive teaching and tutoring experience gained from a 30 plus year career in both the public and private sectors. He is the retired Director of Quality Assurance for a Defense Contract Management Age

Jack has extensive teaching and tutoring experience gained from a 30 plus year career in both the public and private sectors. He is the retired Director of Quality Assurance for a Defense Contract Management Agency and a certified Master Instructor (Department of Defense) with many hours of formal classroom experience. He hold's a Master’s Degree in Business Administration and his undergraduate training included both engineering and education. He has complemented this formal classroom experience with personal tutoring. His Graduate Record Exam score qualified him for MENSA.

Algebra and Geometry lessons are offered as a means to keep current with classroom topics or as a preparatory class before school begins. Help is also offered on an ad hoc basis as needed and is often free of charge.

The estimated value of the antique, in dollars, 2 years after purchase can be represented by the expression 200a, where a is a constant. What is the value of a ?
The operant word in this question is that a is a constant, a number not a formula or a variable.
At the end of the first year the antique was worth $200 plus 10% - this can be written as 200 times .1 plus 200 or more simply 200 times 1.1
At the end of the second year the antique was worth 10 percent more than the end of the first year
End of first year = 200 times 1.1
End of second year = 200 times 1.1 times 1.1 (A x B x C) is the same as (B x C x A)
1.1 times 1.1 = 1.21 The answer is 1.21
